My training as an architect began in the early disruptive years of the 90s, when the echoes of the fall of the Berlin Wall, coupled with the emergence of the internet—still without the technological giants that now act as omnipresent arbitrators of the information we receive—and when pandemics were a distant medieval concept barely resonating in the collective consciousness. After more than three decades of professional practice, we find ourselves immersed in the perennial dichotomy between concept and idea, a duality that has accompanied our architectural reflections over time. At this conceptual crossroads, we delve into the intricacies of our discipline, attempting to discern the very essence of architecture, materiality, sustainability, and social function, in a landscape saturated with entropy, uncertainty, and technology. It is in this context that we venture to analyze over 100 concepts of advanced architecture, ranging from materiality to sustainability and social function. We acknowledge the need to justify the transcendence and transversality of generative artificial intelligence in the development of our architectures, especially in the imminent scenario where this technology will be able to merge binary algorithms with BIM environments. This advancement not only promises to revolutionize our professional practice but also reflects the evolution taking place in other fields, such as the literary and visual worlds. In the present year 2024, the world has undergone profound and rapid mutations, leaving humanity at a crossroads. We face the choice of merely surviving, carried away by the currents of change, or riding the crest of the generative artificial intelligence tsunami. Personally, I choose the red pill. It seems more enjoyable.
