Optimization techniques for solving complex problems

This book addresses real problems and modern techniques to solve them. The main area of the book is computer science. The editorial team has been researching how to reuse information on advanced optimization techniques in the best way to allow application in different fields of interest. The chapters contain examples to illustrate the applications themselves as well as the actual performance of the algorithms in order to show the power and present status of research with them. Evolutionary algorithms and other metaheuristics, grid computing, exact algorithms like branch and bound, constraint satisfaction, and many hybrid techniques. The book can be used either to look at new techniques or theapplications described within the content. This work addresses complex academic and real life tasks by using modern optimization techniques. This work has been performed by five university groups located in different cities to establish state of the art solutions. They targeted a multidisciplinary group of problems within telecommunications, logistics, network security, hardware realizations and bioinformatics. This book will also provide pointers to web solvers and problems over the internet to assist the diverse readership.
