Research must support the efficacy of play therapy in order to justify therapists' use of it to insurance companies, courts, school districts, and parents.Indeed, the Association for Play Therapy has made play therapy research a toppriority. Focusing on the two most academically researched types of play therapy, child-centered play therapy (the most popular type of play therapy that is ‘led’ by the child, and not ‘directed’ by a therapist), and filial therapy (in which parents employ child-centered methods at home), this will be the first book of its kind to provide exhaustive, in-depth coverage of play therapy research studies through chapters written by the top play therapy researchers toprovide play therapists with guidance about which methods are evidence-based and how future play therapy research should be conducted.Dr. Jennifer Baggerly, Ph.D., LMHC-S, RPT-S, earned her doctorate degree in Counselor Education with a specialization in Play Therapy at the University of North Texas.
