This book does not examine the fundamentals of enzyme kinetics in depth, as they have already been detailed in a number of excellent books. However, basic theories are briefly introduced in the first chapter, after which the second and third chapters focus on the statistical evaluation of kinetic data and numerical integration methods. The content on enzyme-modifier interactions combines inhibition and activation (classical and tight-binding) with an emphasis on allosteric regulation, which is of growing interest for pharmacological applications. In turn, physiologically and pharmacologically relevant ‘slow’ interactions between enzymes and modifiers are addressed in a unified theory for reversible and irreversible processes. The book closes with diagnostic dichotomous keys to the mechanisms, and essential mathematical derivations not presented elsewhere in the literature are featured in the appendix.
