The book is intended to be a practical reference for all scientists and graduate students who are seeking to define a mathematical model for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) simulation. At present, there is a strong interest from both industry and academia in SOFC modeling, but the resources are currently limited to technical papers, which usually fail to provide basic understanding of the phenomena taking place in a SOFC, or describe the different approaches needed for different requirements. In fact, although there are several books on fuel cells, it is very hard to find a book dealing with SOFC modeling problems. This situation is in contrast with the present demand in SOFC modeling, coming from scientists who need to deal with such problems daily, as well as from students and young researchers. For this reason, we decided together with other colleagues, to write such a book (multi-author book), that should become a reference ‘handbook’ for all the SOFC modeling studies. Currently there is a strong need for solid oxide fuel cell modelling books, but there is no book dedicatedto this issue. Usually, modelling is briefly dealt with in generic fuel cellsbooks, but the usefulness of the information provided is very limited
