Recent years have seen a growing interest in the field of thermodynamic properties of solids due to the development of advanced experimental and modeling tools. Predicting structural phase transitions and thermodynamic properties have important applications in condensed matter and material science research, aswell as in interdisciplinary research involving geophysics and Earth sciences. Referees comments: Drs Chaplot, Mittal and Choudhoury have spent many years researching at the forefront of computational techniques applied to understanding and predicting thermodynamic properties of solids. They have also considerable experience in Neutron scattering techniques so in that sense they would be well equipped both in time and research experience for taking up this task. My evaluation of their capability and possibility of a sustained effort leading to a quick turn around is therefore positive and good. (M.Somayazulu, Carnegie Institution of Washington)
