Over the last half century, the science and practice of forensic science has undergone dramatic changes. Since the early 1960’s the technological developments and their application to forensic science have been immense. Not only that, the application of science within a legal context and framework has developed enormously as has the evaluation of the analytical results obtained. This book looks at the development of forensic science and practice over the last 50 years through a continuous diary of development witnessed by the editorials and memorial lectures delivered through the Forensic Science Society and its journal “Science and Justice”. The text will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Forensic Science Society which is the UK professional body for forensic scientists. The text will be a compilation of the editorials from the Society’s professional journal Science and Justice (previously Journal of the Forensic Science Society) and provide a commentary of the changing face of forensic science policy and practice through the last 50 years in the UK.
