Datta presents the first comprehensive treatment of seismic analysis of structures which can be used for a complete course on the topic. While numerous books have been written on earthquakes, earthquake resistance design, seismic analysis and design of structures, none have been tailored for advanced students and practitioners, and those that do focus on a narrow segment of the topic, such as basic theories, ground motion analysis, and soil structure interaction. With this book, readers will gain proficiencies in the following: seismology fundamentals that all structural engineers must know; the types of analysis toperform for various earthquake inputs; time domain frequency analyses of ground motion; spectrum method of structural analysis without rigorous knowledge of random vibrations; equivalent lateral load analysis as given in different earthquake codes; ground response analysis and dynamic soil structure interaction; inelastic response of single degree of freedom system subjected to earthquake excitation; seismic reliability analysis; control of seismic response of structures.Tushar Kanti Datta, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India Dr. T. K. Datta is an Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi. He has over 30 years of teaching and research experience at IIT, New Delhi and Mumbai.
