Based on papers from the 4th Business Systems Laboratory International Symposium (BSLAB) in 2016, this volume contributes to the business management, organizational and innovation literature by providing insights on the antecedents of the adoption of systems thinking in the business systems domain. The contributions explore the theories and practice of Business Systems in any kind of organisation addressing the benefits and criticalities of business managements in today's global economic and social scenarios. The Business Systems Laboratory International Symposia aim to address the global economic and social challenges of our times from a systemic perspective; shedding light on several interactions between natural social and economic systems. This multidisciplinary perspective includes: management, economics, engineering and sociology.
