This book provides an introduction to the relevance of the foundations of contemporary special education, and illustrates the contribution of the followingunderpinning aspects: Legal; Conceptual; Medical; Pharmacological; Neuropsychological; Social; Behavioural; Cognitive; Psychotherapeutic; Psycholinguistic;Technological; and Pedagogical. For each aspect examples are given of how it provides insights or practical contributions to special education generally and to particular disabilities and disorders.
