This book describes fully delineated biochemical systems, organized as NeuralNetwork-type assemblies. The basic components involved are well defined enzymic units. The product of one unit is transferred to the next unit where it acts as the starting material, much the same as natural neurotransmitters carry out their information by being transferred between one neuron and the other. Hence, a wireless connection between the components is achieved. Accordingly, the assemblies considered herein can be envisaged as basic model systems which contribute to furthering our understanding of the natural systems. Moreover, the systems considered set a new milestone on the road to biocomputing, along which the previously developed biomolecular switches and biomolecular logic gates (referred to in the book) are additional landmarks.
