This book explores the transition of Indian society from agrarian to industrial and technological, and the synthesis of Western and Eastern values in Indian culture. The authors argue that despite retaining many of the aspects of its agrarian roots, Indian society has adapted to technological developments without cultural and contextual processes. This has led to the fragmentation of society and has created a `culture of transience'. The authors propose an alternative synthesis that would create a true Indian identity, an achievement-oriented nation and a dignified heritage.
