JANE HARRIGAN is Professor of Economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies. She has published extensively on the Middle East , North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. HAMED EL-SAID has published extensively on the Middle East and North Africa, His latest workincludes Aid and Power in the Arab World: IMF and World Bank Policy-Based Lending in the Middle East and North Africa, and Economic Liberalisation, Social Capital and Islamic Welfare Provisions, both books co-authored with Professor Jane Harrigan. Professor El-Said led the UN research team Working Group on Addressing Radicalisation and Extremism that Lead to Terrorism in 2008.
