This book will present an overview of the chemistry, geology, toxicology and environmental impacts of arsenic. It will be written for research scientists, graduate students and engineers. The book will present information on relatively common arsenic minerals and their key properties, useful chemical and toxicology data, and information on the cycling of arsenic through the Earths atmosphere, water, soils and interior. In addition, it will include discussions on the environmental impacts of the release of arsenic from mining and coal combustion. Techniques for treating arsenic in water, soils, coal combustion byproducts, and other materials also will be reviewed and critically evaluated. The toxicology chapter will emphasize human health, and there will be some discussions on the impact of arsenic toxicology on livestock and wildlife. Although the environmental regulations of different nations vary and change over time, prominent International, North American, and European guidelines and regulations on arsenic will be reviewed.
