This handbook gives an excellent overview about present technologies and focuses on newest developments in solid state storage of hydrogen. Since nor the optimal storage mechanism neither the optimal material fulfilling all requirements have been identified, this book will present the most potential materials and highlight their advantages as well as drawbacks.Michael Hirscher is group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Metals Research, Stuttgart, Germany. After studying physics at the University of Stuttgart, Germany and at the Oregon State University, Corvallis, USA, he was awarded the Otto Hahn Medal of the Max Planck Society. Prior to taking his position in Stuttgart, he spent a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. He is a pioneer in the area of physisorption of hydrogen, studying the most advanced materials and revealing the limitations of carbon nanotubes.
