Music Interaction is Interaction Design applied to interactive systems used for performing, composing, analysing, and learning about music. Due partly to new interaction technologies such as the iPad, Wii, iPhone, Kinect, and Arduino, and newly relevant theories such as embodied cognition, Music Interaction Research is at an exciting and formative stage. This agenda-setting book has twopurposes: firstly to examine in depth the state of the art in Music Interaction research; and secondly to explore three different areas: namely where MusicInteraction has things to teach HCI (Human Computer Interaction);where HCI has things to teach Music Interaction;and where Music Interaction has its own distinctive concerns.
