This volume will consist of an edited compilation of papers describing recentresearch on the socioecology, population biology, and conservation status of the small apes. As such, it will serve as a reference resource for researchersand students interested in the small apes specifically, as well as researchers interested in the gibbon perspective on a number of theoretical issues in primatology (e.g. mating systems, feeding ecology, biogeography, and conservation biology). As the volume will include research results from a diversity of small ape taxa, it will be useful for researchers interested in the diversity ofadaptations displayed within the gibbon radiation, as well as those interested in specific taxa. The volume will be edited for internal consistency and clarity, and will be usable both as a compilation of individual articles and as asingle document outlining the current state of research on wild gibbon populations. A reference resource for researchers and students interested in the small apes specifically, as well as researchers interested in the gibbon perspective on a number of theoretical issues in primatology INDICE: From the contents Polyandry in white-handed gibbon as male mating effort in poor resources forest.- Polyandry and male parental care as siamang (Symphalangus syndactylus) behavioral strategies.- Mating systems of Hylobateslar at Khao Yai National Park, Thailand.- Mating and grouping patterns in gibbons.- Male-female relationships in gibbons, a reconsideration of the evidence.- Range use, diet and feeding ecology of H. lar at Khao Yai National Park, Thailand.- Socioecology of Nomascus gabriellae in Cambodia.- Phylogeography of Bornean and Sumatran H. agilis.- Demography and community ecology of H. agilis in Gunung Palung National Park, Indonesia.- The demography of lar gibbons at Khao Yai National Park, Thailand.- Seed dispersal and community ecology of hybrid H. muelleri/H. agilis in Kalimantan.- Conservation genetics and status of H. klossii.- The conservation status of S. syndactulus and H. agilis in Kerinci-Sablat National Park, Indonesia.- Status of Hoolock hoolock populations in Assam, India.
