First published in 1943, Vitamins and Hormones is the longest-running serial published by Academic Press. In the early days of the serial, the subjects of vitamins and hormones were quite distinct. Now covered in this serial is the field of hormone action, vitamin action, X-ray crystal structure, physiology, and enzyme mechanisms. In particular, recently discovered hormones and hormone-like agents are reviewed. Sometimes the topic of a volume will center on a clinical disorder that encompasses hormonal as well as related physiological agents; recent examples are the titles: Obesity, Anorexia, Endocrine Disrupters and Hormones and Breast Cancer, to name a few. Equal attention is given to recent advances in basic research as typified by the titles: Stem Cell Regulators, Hedgehog Signaling, Sleep Hormones and Nitric Oxide. Vitamins and Hormones will continue to publish cutting-edge reviews of interest to endocrinologists, biochemists, nutritionists, pharmacologists, cell biologists, and molecular biologists and, especially, clinicians who have specialized practices. Others interested in the structure and function of biologically active molecules like hormones and vitamins will, as always, turn to this series for comprehensive reviews by leading contributors to this and related disciplines. The volumes in this series on vitamins and hormones focus on the newest aspects of hormone action in connection with diseasesMany of the volumes in this series lay the groundwork for the focus of new chemotherapeutic targetsThe coverage of basic science is represented by reviews on emerging areas in hormone action, cellular regulators and signaling pathways INDICE: 1.
