Lanthanide-Based Multifunctional Materials: From OLEDs to SIMs serves as a comprehensive and state-of the art review on Ln3+ -based nanomaterials. The book aims to deliver a panorama of the latest progress on lanthanide(III)-based multifunctional materials. A portion of the book is devoted to the photoluminescent and electroluminescent properties of Ln(III) complexes, with special emphasis on Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes and their use in OLEDs applications. The device construction and operating principles will be briefly covered, and the strategies to increase the devices performance will be explained and reviewed. The new field of chiral OLEDs will be discussed and the first achievements thoroughly described. Lanthanide complexes and their molecular magnet application is addressed, including explanation of how to increase the energy barrier to make the spin inversion impossible so that a single molecule can store a bit of information, and reporting the most recent advances in spin reading and manipulation. Finally the book reviews the bio-applications of lanthanide complexes, such as bioprobes, dual-imaging agents and theranostic agents. Includes the latest on lanthanide complexes and OLED applications, addressing device construction, performance improvement, and chiral OLEDsProvides information on molecular magnet applications including most recent advances in spin reading and manipulationReviews bio-applications of lanthanide complexes, particularly spectroscopic INDICE: 1.
