Advances in Polymer Reaction Engineering, Volume 57 of the Series Advances in Chemical Engineering, is aimed at reporting the latest advances in the field of polymer synthesis. With its production volume of more than 350 million tons per year (according to PlasticEurope, 2017), the polymer manufacturing represents for sure a relevant percentage of the manufacturing industry in developed and developing countries. Despite the polymerization processes are well-assessed for several years, the more and more complex and specific applications polymer materials are involved in as well as the availability of novel and sophisticated computing tools is stimulating the research towards new approaches to the topic, from both a process and a modelling point of view. Therefore, the goal of Advances in Polymer Reaction Engineering is to present these innovations from a theoretical and an experimental point of view. In particular, the Volume is divided in two sections. The former reports the advances in the control and monitoring of polymerization processes. The strategies to control the composition and chain length distribution to obtain highly tailorable polymer products as well as the new reactor configurations available are described. The latter section is devoted to the novel approaches towards modelling of polymerization reactions, which is nowadays fundamental for the proper design of experiments. Contributions are gathered from experts from both academia and industry, for a 360° view of the topic.
