Fuel cell (FC) is an emerging technology. It is expected that technological advances will take place in different types of FCs and in their applications from small-scale portable electronics to large-scale power generation. An understanding of the FC dynamic modeling and response prediction is necessary for students, as well as practicing engineers/scientists working in related areas, to be able to evaluate FC response and to design controllers to adapt FCs to particular applications. The proposed book is intended to fill the present gap for PEM fuel cells (PEMFC) and solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), both with significant promise for distributed power generation applications. The book includes a multidisciplinary introduction to electrochemical energy conversion, dynamicmodeling of PEMFC, SOFC and electrolyzer, modeling and control of power electronic interfacing circuits of FCs, modeling and control of stand-alone and grid-connected fuel cell distributed generation systems, and some case studies. ACD containing MATLAB/SIMULINK-based models for PEMFC, SOFC, and electrolyzer will accompany the book.
