This textbook gives a clear and thorough presentation of the fundamental principles of mechanical systems and their dynamics. It provides both the theory and applications of mechanical systems in an intermediate theoretical level, ranging from the basic concepts of mechanics, constraint and multibody systems over dynamics of hydraulic systems and power transmission systems to machine dynamics and robotics. The book aims at practicing engineers and graduate and advanced undergraduate students in mechanical engineering and mechanics. The concept of the book is mainly determined by the experiences of the author. Sixteen years aerospace industry with its forerunner role in all technologies, but also in many fundamentals, twenty years academia in the area of mechanics, especially in the areas of dynamics and control, fundamental research on bilaterally and unilaterally constrained systems, on robotics and walking machines and many applications with regard to practical industrial problems. Has the potential to become the standard work of mechanical systems Clear presentation of the basic concepts and industrial applications of the dynamics of mechnical systems ‘A good theory is very practical, but we also have to state, that good practice might induce good new theories never known before. Both is important fora good engineer.’ INDICE: Fundamentals.- Basic Concepts.- Kinematics.- Momentum and Moment of Momentum.- Energy.- Impulsive Motion.- Constraint Systems.- Basic Characteristics.- Principles.- Multibody Systems with Bilateral Constraints.- Multibody Systems with Unilateral Costraints.- Impact Systems.- Mechanical System Dynamics with Bi- and Unilateral Constraints.- Dynamics of Hydraulic Systems.- PowerTransmission Systems.- Torque Converters.- Timing Gears.- Drive Systems.- Machine Dynamics.- Processing Machines .- Fair Equipment.- Special Machines.- Robotics and Walking.- System Dynamics.- Dynamics and Control of Walking Machines.- Dynamics of Assembly Processes with Robots.
