The book offers a multi-technology approach as it will consider the implications of the different SON requirements for 2G and 3G networks, as well as 4G wireless technologies. The challenges in each layer will be different due to thenature of the different mechanisms involved in each technology, and also due to the fact that currently deployed 2G and 3G networks were not conceived to facilitate the fulfillment of the different SON requirements.
