Gavriel Salvendy has established a curriculum in service engineering supported by IBM at his industrial engineering program in China. Based on this and a number of meetings with IBM on the requirements of the program, Salvendy proposes to build a book that can be used in the growing number of curriculums around the world. He proposes to bring together an editorial board of specialist/contributors in the various areas of coverage - each will author a chapter on their specialty. Salvendy will work to smooth the coverage so that the book can be used as a textbook as well as the reference for professionals (and those investigating establishing a curriculum in the area). The book will provide examples and problems for students, and at least one real world case study per chapter. A solutions manual will be developed to support teaching.
