A critical assessment of cyborg cinema. Tracing the cinematic cyborg's transition over the last three decades and evaluating its theoretical significance, the book questions the relevance of the cyborg in terms of understanding humanidentity and technology. SUE SHORT is a lecturer in media and film studies at Birkbeck College, University of London, UK. She has contributed to a variety of publications on thesubject of film and television, written two other books, 'Misfit Sisters: Screen Horror as Female Rites of Passage' (Palgrave, 2006) and 'The Cult Telefantasy Series' (2011), and co-edited a collection of essays entitled 'When WorldsCollide: A Critical Companion to SF Adaptation' (2011).
