Leadership Network commissioned a study by Ed Stetzer (who heads up LifeWay Research) on church planting, i.e., the process of getting a new church started. Leadership Network wanted to find out what the best practices were in churchplanting and uncover the common threads among them. This book will use research findings to inform, guide, and even catalyze today's many church planting leaders. It will show them how to form a movement and will hopefully also inspire them to do so. It will address their felt needs of what to do next in theirchurch planting strategies, in light of research on what's actually working best.Ed Stetzer (Nashville, TN) has been a church planter and has trained pastors and church planters on five continents, holds two masters degrees and two earned doctorates, and has written dozens of articles and books. Ed is a columnistfor Outreach Magazine and Catalyst Monthly, serves on the advisory council ofSermon Central and Christianity Today's Building Church Leaders, and is frequently cited or interviewed in news outlets such as USAToday and CNN. Ed teaches at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and has taught at 15 other colleges and seminaries. He also serves on the Church Services Team at the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Eds primary role is President of LifeWay Research. Warren Bird (Suffern, NY) is well-versed personally and professionally in church planting. Among the 19 books he has co-authored, one tells the story of a dozen church planters, Starting a New Church, and three others are co-authored for pastors who are church planters: Emotionally Healthy Church (Pete Scazzero), CultureShift (Robert Lewis and Wayne Cordeiro), and Multi-Site Church Revolution (Geoff Surratt). Warren currently directs the research division at Leadership Network and has taught at Alliance Theological Seminary.
