The maritime supply chain is one of the largest and most complex networks in the world. It is composed of multiple actors working all along the chain, from shipping, to port, to hinterland. The supply chain is experiencing significant changes, including the restructuring of maritime transport, the development of maritime transport markets, new innovations in port operations, and an ambition for sustainability. New digital innovations such as the use of blockchain for maritime logistics are also transforming the whole supply chain. In order to understand the maritime supply chain, and respond to key challenges, an approach that considers actors and their relation to the supply chain as a whole is needed. Integrated Maritime Supply Chain takes a transversal approach, breaking the chain into its components, while consistently relating these to the overall integrated supply chain. It analyses and provides solutions to the most frequently encountered problems and key operational issues facing maritime supply chains. It applies cutting-edge scientific techniques to shed new light on the maritime supply chain. Four parts consider the supply chain from shipping, ports and terminals, to hinterland, and issues that intersect different parts of the chain. Integrated Maritime Supply Chain shows the various actors at play, and how they relate to the way the supply chain functions overall. This book offers solutions to the most pressing problems facing maritime supply chains, and provides a unique, integrative account. Provides a comprehensive and integrative account of the maritime supply chain from shipping, to port, to hinterlandCuts through the maritime supply chain to offer a transversal picture of how the chain functionsApplies rigorous analytical techniques to give solutions to the most frequent and pressing challenges facing maritime supply chainsConsiders advances such as blockchain, set to transform maritime supply chains INDICE: 1.
