Stemming from a conference on how gender issues cross national borders, this book focuses on sex trafficking as it is effected by transnationalism, culture, and nationalism.  It facilitates the identification of common factors that cross all borders, while acknowledging those that may be more prominent in one culture than another,. Government regulations, financial benefits, control by certain groups, and other key factors are examined. Throughout, a mental health framework is employed but other approaches, such as economic empowerment are also explored. Both intervention and prevention models are discussed, while survivor stories and academic studies (both qualitative and quantitative) combine to offer a rounded, real-life view of this pervasive problem.  This presentation is relevant to mental health and legal professionals, as well as sociology and political science researchers.
