'Control of Large-Scale Systems Under Information Structure Constraints' focuses on control design under information structure constraints, with a particular emphasis on large-scale systems. The complexity of such systems poses serious computational challenges and severely restricts the types of feedback laws that can be used in practice. The books objective is to systematically addressthe main issues that arise in this context, and provide a number of applications that illustrate the proposed design methods. Most of these methods make use of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs), which have become a popular design tool over the past two decades. The book begins with a description of several efficient decomposition techniques which simplify the underlying computations, and help the user identify an appropriate control structure. Using these decompositions as a starting point, different ways in which information structure constraints and modeling uncertainties can be incorporated into the standard framework of LMI optimization are considered. This discussion is subsequently extended to problems of local and parametric stability, which are known to be difficult when the system under consideration is large. The final chapter of the book explores dynamic graphs as a possible conceptual framework for analyzing and controlling large, interconnected networks. Problems of this type are of special interest in the study of emergent phenomena in complex systems. INDICE: Decompositions of large-scale systems.- Information structure constraints.- Algebraic constraints on the gain matrix.- Local stability.- Parametric stability.- Future directions: dynamic graphs.
